This Year’s Rongali Bihu 

-SNEHASISH GHOSH

The season called spring has arrived,

Kopus are starting to bloom,

But the quarantine period has made,

This Year’s Rongali Bihu very gloom.

The Rongali Bihu that was our very own,

Full of joy and happiness,

This year the Corona virus by killing our people,

Has turned the season of insight into sadness.

‘Dhol’, ‘Pepa’, ‘Gogona’ with the rendition by ‘Husori’,

Fill the hearts of people with joy and merriment,

But this spirit of the Rongali Bihu,

Has been turned this year into contentment.

A hope stills lightens the heart,

Of Celebrating Rongali like we did all these years,

A wish that peace returns to the world,

By removing the virus and all its tears.
