I call him Superman : twilight of poem

I Call him Superman

-Deepannita Sarma (Sankretik)

When I opened my eyes, he held me first
Looking at my dimpled smile, into tears did he burst
He smiled a bit, said with pride
Worked a lot, to make my future bright!

He walked under the sun, exhausted and tired
But with me, he was always calm and mild
He is my Superman, even though I've seen him cry
He asked me not to leave, to never say Goodbye!

He saw his little girl wake up, turn into a grown up now
He wished I remained a child, but he never knew how
And on and on he struggled a lot, the wars he had fought
Protected and saved us, though saving himself was something he knew not!

I see the old photos sometimes, how young and happy was he
And then I came into the world, and now I'm grown up you see
Looking at his wrinkles and tired face, afraid I used to be
But I smile at him, for my guardian angel is still with me!

He loves me a lot, but can never say
I don't blame him, I'm his daughter and thus, the same
I look back a bit, and get nostalgic sometimes
For life you know, is not as easy as those little nursery rhymes!

I pray you go a long way, that you see happiness everyday
The day you're no longer near, I don't want that day
I look at those who don't have fathers, their Superman you know
So I want you to never grow old, selfish I may seem though!
