Twilight Of Poem

The Umbrella

"The Umbrella"

                            -by Najuma yeasmin

It might have been quarter to 1 and I was preparing to come back home from my Alma mater, the Handique Girls College, where i had to meeting with a couple of beautiful souls. As i stepped out of the campus, it started to rain. I did wait sometime for the rain to stop but realizing that Lords Indra and Vazra were not in the mood to let it go easy. I decided to walk back home. I had always been a fan of the monsoons and the mild drizzle just made the perfect situation for me to take the walk that i had been thinking of for sometime. I was known to my friends as a brisk walker and because of my trademark long steps, i was half way almost in no time. Then, one of the strongest yet cutest things happened to me, a bit creepy too if i may add.I saw a boy tall with wavy jet black hair which crowned his head. It was towering everyone around him. He stole a glance of me, and maybe my less feminine vibes did  tickle his heart. He kept looking into my eyes. Initially i judged him for a streetside pervert, but after sometime, i could make out that he wasn't the regular roadside romeo. I did something that neither me nor the people i am known to would have expected from me. Yes! I smiled at him. He took it as a welcoming step and within seconds he was standing next to me. Now, my heart was beeting faster, so fast that it could easily give the bullet train a run for it's money.Collecting up all the courage in me that had actually drained down to my knees, i responded to the 'hello' that he had said as soon as he had come near me, with a 'hie' in the softest voice possible. He smiled at me and said in his husky voice, "May i tempt you to a walk to whatever you are going, because i believe that is the place that God wants my destination to be." "cheesy, but cute and unique", i replied. I saw his eyes glisten with joy. I didn't say anything after that and started walking. He realised it was a green signal from my end and he immediately hopped to my side, holding the umbrella he carried over my head. A beautiful rainy day, a young good looking lad holding an umbrella, if this is not a good day for a co-year old girl, dealing with the hardships of the transition from a teen to an adult than what is, right?
Tale to tell for my future grand childrens. Yes, call me dramatic but i do think of having cute little grandchildrens  at times. By the way, you know what was the best part about the date that day, well is my extreme excitement, i forgot to ask my knight in shining armours name. Oops! Double oops i may add to that.
