Milik: Would you like to share something about you?

Manasvi: My name is Manasvi Jain and I am currently a student of class  12. I am a person with varied interests. I love watching TV shows, listening to music and writing in my leisure time. I have a very ambitious soul and once I put my mind to anything, there’s nothing I cannot do.

Milik: When did you start writing poetry? Do you remember the first time you wrote something? What was the source of your inspiration earlier? Did it change with the time?

Manasvi: I don’t remember the exact time period of when I started writing but I’ve always had a journal since I was nine years old and I still do. That journal was the window to my soul and my feelings at that time and I remember that I started writing to express my feelings and to understand myself a bit better. So I think that’s what drove me to write.
My inspiration earlier was my desire to express my feelings and it really hasn’t changed, but I can say that I’ve evolved in the way I express those feeling.

Milik: What does poetry mean to you? Why do you write?

Manasvi: Poetry is very special to me. It not only helps me to express myself and unburden myself but it has helped me to understand myself better. It has helped me to understand my emotions and the various reasons why those emotions exist.
I write because it’s great way to express yourself and again, it’s a great hobby. Writing comes naturally to me because I’ve always thought of writing as a road to success and wellness.

Milik: Would you like to share few lines of your poetry?

Manasvi: Yes, ofcourse. I would share here one my latest creations which plays a very significant role in times like these. It urges people and myself to think about the way we are living our life and makes us think a specific question like,“ What am I doing with my life? Or “Is this how I want to live my life?”

Is this how we want to live our lives?
Scared to admit we love someone,
But proud to admit we hate a person!
Preaching of love and kindness,
And not showing even a shred of kindness where its needed!
Using people like things,
And then wondering why we have no real friends!
Faking our smiles, only to cry alone
And then wondering why no one is beside us while we cry!
Craving for success,
But not ready to struggle for that success!
Being selfish about ourselves,
And then wondering why people are so self-centered!
Is this really how we want to live our lives?
If your answer is yes,
Think again!

Milik:  Which poets have inspired you? Do you feel yourself ever influenced by the writing style of a poet?

Manasvi: I usually don’t read poetry very often but there’s one poet, who I feel, has outdone herself with every word she ever wrote. Whenever I read something written by her, there’s just one question in my mind, “How can anybody write so well?” Sylvia Plath was an amazing poet. I am well aware that people think her writings are dark and always have unexplained metaphors, but the way she puts those feelings into words amazes me everytime.
And even though I would love to write like her, my style of writing is unique to me. They are a flow of words that naturally occur to me and I wouldn’t change them for anything.

Milik: How often do you write? People say poetry writing needs time; best words come out in leisure. How do you manage your time to write and work?

Manasvi: There’s not a proper timeline as to when I write. It is always spontaneous. And its definitely true, poetry writing takes a lot of time but for me ,I would say that it depends. Sometimes I write continuously for hours but there are times I lack the words or find something missing in my poems. As far as managing work and poetry go, it really isn’t a difficult job for me. I write when I want to and the other times I work. I’m a full time student and poetry is a hobby and just like anybody else, you always find time for your hobbies if you really want to pursue them.

Milik: Please let the readers know about your projects for future? Are your working on any book? And please share any stanza you have written and you repeat it most of the times

Manasvi: I have already self published a book called “Magic of Midnight” that contains some of my poems. Its available on notion press, amazon and flipkart. I don’t really have any future plans right now. I would really like to concentrate on bettering my writing and focus on my career. But I do share some of my poetry on my instagram  and would continue to do so.
My favourite creation of mine is,
          “The sky too blue,
           My dreams too high
They tell me to lower my ambition
But how can I lower the sky?”
Magic Of Midnight : Manasvi Jain

Milik: What is your message to the young poets who are willing to explore the new dimensions of creative writing?

Manasvi:  My only advice would be that you discover yourselves and don’t refrain from sharing anything you wrote only because someone criticized you because that’s okay and people will do it anyway. Also, do not exhaust yourselves in trying to write something when you’re not feeling like it. Trust me, you will make it a habit and then start hating to write because it will no more empower you but only increase your burden and you don’t want that.  And lastly, I would say that believe in yourself. You have whatever it takes.

Thank you Twilight of Poem for having me here. I really enjoyed answering all the questions.
